Fraud Prevention

Fraud prevention is crucial to your business. From basic to advanced, several fraud prevention and alert tools are available to reduce business loss and risk.

Address Verification System (AVS)

Enabling address verification is a standard feature available in the TPro Direct Gateway.
AVS compares the billing address of the customer with the billing address on file for the credit card.

Card Code Verification (CCV)

The card code is a three or four digit number on the signature panel on the back or following the full number on the front and is printed in reverse italics. CVV compares the code from the customer with the code on file with the issuing bank.

Multiple User Accounts

TPro offers the ability to set up multiple user accounts as a standard feature. This boosts your fraud protection by giving you permission based controls over the type of access each employee will have within the merchant Management Center.

TPro Protect

Authorized IP Addresses

Designate a specific server IP address for submitted transactions to avoid any fraudulent transactions being submitted from other sources.

Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode

Increase customer confidence and fraud prevention by offering the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode to online shoppers. Consumers will be prompted to enter a private security code like a PIN to authenticate that they are the cardholder, preventing others from using their card for online purchases. This directly reduces your risk for chargebacks due to fraudulent transactions.

TPro Protect offers the best tools to reduce your business loss. Sign up today to add this to your account.

Additional Fraud Prevention & Detection Practices

Follow PCI Data Security Best Practices

These industry wide standards increase security for transmitting, processing, and storing cardholder data. Following these standards is highly recommended. Review PCI Data Security Standard Requirements. https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org

Periodically Change Passwords for the Merchant Account

Boost security by changing the user account password every 60 days and do not share this information with anyone. Additional users can be set-up on the account to control access, improve security, and prevent or identify fraud.

Review Transaction Activity

Fraudulent activity can be detected by closely reviewing suspicious transactions. You are at higher risk if you accept international transactions but if you are diligent about reviewing your transactions you can minimize loss by voiding suspicious transactions before your daily batch time. Review unsettled transactions, look for unusually high volume of transaction activity, transactions with unusual amounts that range from one cent to thousands of dollars, and even orders with different billing and shipping addresses can be suspect. If you need to immediately pause transactions due to rapidly occurring suspicious activity, put the account in Test Mode until you can resolve your issue. Contact Customer Support for assistance.

Electronic Data Security

Use a Firewall

Firewalls help to keep your network protected from unauthorized external activity and potential outside threats.

Store Sensitive Data Separate and Offline

The most secure option is to never store customer credit card data. If storing is necessary then it is recommended that data is transferred to a secure and encrypted database on a server that is not connected to the internet. If sensitive information is printed, it must be completely shredded for disposal regularly.

Install and Frequently Update Anti-Virus Software

Anti-Virus software can protect your systems from harmful viruses targeted at compromising system security and sensitive data. Frequent updates are necessary for the highest level of protection.

Frequently Install Security Updates

Security updates are designed to protect your systems and information. Frequent installation of security updates ensures your systems contain the latest available features.
